Wound Care course will provide the students up-to-date information for wound care and concept of wound Management. Student will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to identify if the client is at risk for wounds and how to implement appropriate preventative and treatment measures. Also learn the systematic, interprofessional and client-centric approach. The main concept includes assessment of the wound, injection, prevention and pain management. This course is beneficial for all healthcare professionals who need to know how to identify, prevent, and manage chronic wounds.
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify wound etiology and dressings/treatments appropriate for healing and non-healing wounds
- Describe the principles of wound healing: adequate blood supply, moisture, protection.
- Apply wound care knowledge to confidently care for patients, clients and/or residents risk of developing, or have chronic wounds
- Define and administer various treatment options including dressings and other modalities
